Excellent work on your DoodleMaths task yesterday!  I hope you all enjoyed the Buckingham Palace activities too!  Owls, I am going to ask you to make another sandwich for your lunch today (you will all be very good at this!) and use it to help you produce some writing!

Firstly I would like you all to practise your mental maths:  Use this 100 square https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/paint-the-squares to practise counting up to 100 and then practise your 2s, 5s and 10s! Grown-ups I would then like you to ask some doubles questions too!  (in order!)

Reception Mini Write

Today I would like you to make your favourite sandwich.  It would be good if you could make your sandwich first and then write a sentence to say what is in your sandwich – you could draw a picture of it too!  If you want to really challenge yourself, you can write how you made it in 3 sentences (something like this grown-ups…First I put butter on my bread.  Next I put in ham, tomato and lettuce.  Then I ate my sandwich it was lovely!)

Big Write- Year One Instruction Writing

This week I would like you to write instructions on how to make your favourite sandwich. Remember instructions tell you how to do something and sometimes need to be a little bossy!  It would be good if you could make your sandwich first and talk with your grown-up about the stages you have taken to make the sandwich (don't forget to always wash your hands first!)  I have attached a planning sheet for you to use to support you in using time words like 'first, next, then' so please draw pictures and circle the word you are going to use. Once you have done this, you can put your instructions into sentences and write them in your book.

Remember each instruction will need to be on a new line. Don't forget capital letters, full stops and finger spaces too! You will notice on the planning sheet I have added a box called 'adverbs' these words tell us how we do things - a mixture of adjective and verb - your challenge is to try to use these in some of your instructions.

Afternoon activity for Reception and Year One –  garden plants

Firstly share together the attached powerpoint ‘Naming garden plants’.  Maybe you have seen the flowers in your garden or at the park?  Do you have a favourite flower?  What is its name?  You can then either (using the attached sheet ‘draw or design your own garden’) draw your own garden or use the photographs to help design your own garden filled with flowers by cutting & sticking! Try to look at the pictures and learn some of the names of the different flowers.  You could label your picture or add some exciting features to your garden such as a pond or fun garden toys such as a climbing frame or slide!  Have fun!
