Year One – White Rose Home Learning Week1 lesson 2 Make equal groups (grouping)
Phonics & Mini Write – Reception only
Phonics – practise all your phase 3 sounds and read all the tricky words in your book bag. Today we are going to recap the digraph or. Spell the words; fork, born, horn, for. Remember to add dots and dashes or ‘sound buttons’ as we call them.
‘Mini Write’ - I have noticed that you are becoming fabulous writers Reception Owls so I thought it would be good for you to keep practising your writing by having a ‘mini’ Big Write on a Tuesday morning. Remember Owls how much I love writing and so does Mr Griffith! I have attached a sheet with a picture of Paddington Bear. I would like you to look carefully at the picture of Paddington and use the arrows to help you label the picture. You can even add some of your own labels if you like! Remember to add as much detail as you can so instead of writing ‘fur’, you could write ‘short, brown, fur’ instead of writing ‘hat’, you could write ‘large, red hat’ etc. Don’t worry if you can’t print out the sheet, maybe draw your own Paddington in your workbook and label that!
Big Write- Year One – I would like you to complete the same activity as above and then put each of the labels into a sentence. This means I am expecting seven sentences! You can do it, you are fab writers! If you want to challenge yourself, write your own label and make it into a sentence so you have more than seven sentences! I would also like you to write using as many adjectives (describing words) in your sentence when writing all about Paddington Bear. Remember to use capital letters and full stops correctly as well as spacing between words.
Reception Understanding the World – I would like you to look at the attached powerpoint ‘ Parts of a Plant’ and try to learn some of the different parts of a plant. I would then like you to go into your garden or outside and look at the different types of flowers and plants in your garden. See if you can find some of the different parts such as leaf, stem, flower, root, petal. If you would like to, you can draw some of the different flowers and plants you can see in your garden.
Year One Science – Year Ones I would like you to complete the same activity above (go outside and enjoy the sunshine!) When drawing some of the plants/flowers in your garden or that you can see outside, I would like you to choose one and label these parts on the flower/plant in your workbook: seed (if you can find one on a plant), leaf, stem, flower, roots, petal.
