I hope you are all safe and well and those of you still learning at home, that you are working hard. Every week I get an email telling me which class are being the ‘top doodlers’ in the whole school, and the past few weeks it keeps saying that Hedgehog Class Year 1 are accessing doodle maths the most! This makes me very happy and proud, so please keep it up.
For Maths you should continue to visit the White Rose Maths website to watch your daily video and then complete the worksheet on the school website. Year 2 lessons this week are measuring mass and capacity! Year 1 we are looking at ordering numbers to 100 and then we will start looking at money (recognising coin values and adding money).
Please carry on with as much Doodle Maths as possible (sometimes I will set an added extra) and Year 2s, work through any incomplete sections of your Maths SAT Buster booklet if you would like something extra.
Don’t forget to practise your mental maths skills too like counting in 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s, doubles and halves, bonds to 10 and 20, counting forwards and backwards from any number up to and above 100!
For English, you will need to visit the BBC Bitesize website https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/dailylessons, where there will be a new lesson each day.
Year 1 if you are not at school, you can continue to use the phonics videos online with both St Peter’s school and/or the DfE letters and sounds videos. St Peter’s are now repeating their videos from lesson one again. Please find the links below:
Remember to read often and use the oxford owl ebooks online. If you are in school, your books will be changed weekly.
Please complete an activity from each of the learning grids for plants, RE and Geography. This week in school we will be looking at the difference between bulbs and seeds Science), looking at the weather and comparing our weather in High Littleton to the weather in the Isle of Coll, Katie Morag’s Island (Geography) and the story of King David being chosen as king https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVUCz1AhLZM (RE).
In Big Write at school this week we are writing a letter from an Island to home, thinking about what we might have done on the island and what we might see around us. We are using the story ‘Grandad’s Island’ in both Big Write and Whole Class Reading in school and it is a lovely story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9_KC3s3lRw.
Please feel free to also choose your own activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, gardening, singing and music, PE with Joe, yoga, walking, and of course, continue to use any of the activities on Purple Mash as much as you like.
Any concerns please email the office and I will respond ASAP.
