Friday 3rd April

Dear Deer Class,

Great to see lots of you catching up with some of you missed and DM. Just a few to do now. Scores have also been really impressive - so a huge congratulations to you all.

Over the past few days, I have been speaking with Mr Yarlett and we have begun planning next term. There will be a weekly timetable and we will be covering the usual subjects as best we can. I will share this with you towards the end of the holiday. In the meantime, please keep yourself busy with reading, DoodleMaths and ‘57 things to do over the Easter holidays’.

Today I have been experimenting with YouTube and I hope that I can create videos to help teach you new content next term, although I am already cringing at watching myself.

I hope that we can read ‘Wonder’ as a whole class in the same way that we have been reading ‘Girl of Ink and Stars’. I loaned our class set to another school and am unable to get these back. I have found an online source

where you can read the book. You may like to buy yourself a copy - I have seen it on Amazon (other book sellers are available) for around £3.00 used.

Try to stick to the timetable as best you can, but I understand it may have to be adapted.

Friday's timetable:

9:00: Joe Wicks workout on YouTube or another physical activity.

9:30-10:00 Spelling test and mark ICDM. Practise the spellings you got wrong and look at your mistakes.

10:00-10:30 Please edit and improve your Tabula Rasa. Use dictionaries and thesauruses. You could publish writing if you would like or even type it up and save in hlsdeer (i know not everyone has been able to log in). Please share your writing with your family.

10:30-11:00 Break

11:00-12:00 Spend some time reading the Girl of Ink and Stars. This needs to be finished over Easter as I will ask you to write a book review the first week back. Spend some time finishing off and some time on DoodleMaths.

My records tell me that everyone should be ready to begin B5 on all of the 10-minute boosters next term. If you haven’t done all of these then you could catch-up with these over Easter.

If you haven’t built a den yet - then do the front room preferably.

12:00 Lunch

13:00-15:00 Watch a film for your marble treat from your new den hopefully! Eat popcorn or crisps and a chocolate bar as well. It’s the last day of Term 4 and soon it will be Term 5 so enjoy your Easter break.

You have all done so well these past two weeks! These are the strangest times of our lives but I know that together we will get through it.

I will be in touch soon to keep you up-to-date with the plan for next term.

Best wishes and keep safe.

Mr Gunning
