Hello Owls

Firstly it was so good to speak to some of you today!  We promise we will speak to you all at some time during this week.  Some parents were asking about the daily diary, initially we set this so that the children keep making progress in their writing.  Now we try to set daily tasks which include a writing element so we don’t think you need to do this every day just as and when, if your child wants to do an extra bit of writing, no worries if not!  Miss Harrington has planned two of your activities today which she hopes you enjoy – RE and art!

Daily activities

Mental maths:  Count in 2s, 5s and 10s (you will learn them eventually!) and practise the doubles song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jOzhiACB68

Last week Miss Harrington asked you to think about your favourite or special place at home. This week she would like you to think about a special place that your family like to visit.  This can be anything you like to do as a family, it could be a beach, church, a holiday you have been on or anything else that is special to your family! Memories of happy and special times!

She would like you to talk to your family about places you like to visit and parents it might be nice to look at photographs or albums of your family at this special place, if you have one.

Hopefully you can choose a special place you have visited or would like to visit again. Can you draw your special place on the sheet attached to this email and write a sentence to say why this is your families special place, maybe you could write where it is? Or why it is special?

Afternoon activity

Art (Reception and Year One)

This week Miss Harrington would like to you to draw Paddington bear.  She has attached a Paddington Bear template to this email if you would like to use that to help you, or you can create your own it’s completely up to you (Parents you may have to show them a picture of Paddington Bear to help them).   You can use whatever resources you like, this can be paint, crayon, wool, pencils or anything else you can think of. You can choose what to use!

Year One

I think you would also enjoy this quick activity Miss Harrington planned about The London Eye, a very famous London landmark.  Some of you may have already been on the London Eye.  If you follow this link you will be able to see it:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkmbgL56LXU  When you have watched the clip, Miss Harrington would like you to draw the London eye. You can use whatever you like to create your picture…this can be paint, chalk, pencils or anything else you can think of!  What shape is the London Eye?

We hope you like these activities and have fun learning today!  We are really very proud of you all and the pictures and photographs you send are lovely to see!

Take care and keep smiling

Mrs Payne (and Miss Harrington!)
