Hello Hedgehog Class,

Welcome back to term 5! I hope you all had a lovely break over Easter and that you are excited for our new term of home learning. Please find attached our class letter which outlines the term and gives you more information about our topic and what we will be learning.
Here is your outline for Monday's learning. You can complete the tasks in any order but please try your best to complete them all.

Phonics will happen most days and will be a revision of our sound families; can you remember all your phase 5 sounds and tricky words? Have a go, which ones can you spell? Grown-ups, please give your children a selection of sounds and see if your child can write them down correctly. Our sound family this week is 'ay' Can you write it out 5 times? Remember this ‘ay’ usually comes at the end of the word. Spell a selection of words containing the sound and add dots and dashes; say, may, day, hay, relay, holiday, today, yesterday. Write the sentence (you say it and they write it); I went on holiday to Spain. Can year 2 please also complete their next reading comprehension in their SATs buster booklet if they have it.

Can you all please complete 'Lesson 1 - make doubles' on White Rose Maths https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/ - Can you all please complete you 'X a day' on Doodle Maths - Year 2 can you have a go at 'Lesson 1 - find three quarters' https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/

Please find attached a power point presentation to work through with you children about the UK and the countries it is made from. I have attached a work sheet for them to complete as a follow up activity where they need to label the countries that make UK. As a challenge, can your child also name the capital cities of each of these countries and add them to the map?

Don't forget to do some exercise throughout the day. This could be Joe Wicks, GoNoodle or Yoga - it is always good to start the day with some form of movement, just like we do at school. Also, read read read! Share a story, try reading one of your books or an ebook on Oxford Owl. We expect you to do some kind of reading daily if possible. Feel free to share photos of your work to the office email or share on Purple Mash as I do love to see how hard you are all working.

Have a great day & stay safe.
